Hi there! I'm a soon-to-be Southern lady (fingers crossed--my boyfriend lives in Louisiana so I'm doing all the research I can ahead of time) and wanted some advice--could you maybe post something more specific about hairstyles than "the higher the hair, the closer to God/heaven"? That would be super helpful! Thank you!Anonymous
The reason I give that answer repeatedly is because it’s one of the few “musts” regarding Southern hair. Other than always being “done,” (you should never go in public with hair that is a hot mess. Even putting it in a nice, slicked back bun is perfectly acceptable. Just do something with it.) the only other real rule is that it should look natural. I know everyone is not blessed with the perfect hair, so we spend a lot of time and money making it look like we were. It should be healthy and maintained.
Other than that, and teasing of course, hair is really at your discretion.
